Cultivating a guided plan of care for your hospital stay is crucial to ensure the care team always has a clear picture of your expectations and choices. A written plan supports consistent advocacy for your preferences—such as pain management, feeding goals, visitation, and newborn care—and helps prevent misunderstandings during busy or stressful moments. By outlining practical steps and contingency options, the plan promotes smoother communication between you, your support people, and clinical staff, and it fosters confidence in decision-making. Working together to create this plan equips you and your family with realistic expectations and a gentler transition home, so you can focus on recovery, bonding with your baby, and successful feedings.
Hi, I’m Kate!
From the beginning of my work/study in Sydney, Australia, to my current position as a Lactation Consultant for a Post-partum unit and NICU in Los Angeles, California, there has never been a greater need for Mother -Baby support and advocacy with breastfeeding.
Working with families to provide passionate preparation and careful guidance to navigate your breastfeeding journey and transition home with baby is at the core value of every consult and follow-up.
Together, we will focus on and discuss;
The first crucial steps to ensure the baby’s alignment and comfort at the breast
First steps to take if the latch is uncomfortable
Understanding clusterfeeding.
Safe methods for combo feeding
Understanding how a latch really works. (Science!)
Milk supply and demand, and how the baby signals your milk to come in. (More Science!)
How both vagninal and C-section deliveries can be better supported in the Hospital setting with a designed plan of care before delivery.
Preparing for the onset of colostrum to milk transition, through the first week and beyond.
Immediate and careful intervention of pain or discomfort with feedings
How and when to safely and correctly introduce pumping to support milk supply.
Correct sizing of flanges and inserts
Navigating all the products and overwhelming information related to breastfeeding and pumping.
This is a precious moment that requires nothing less than science-based and trustworthy support from a licensed professional. I would be honored to have the opportunity to better support you and your family's successful journey forward.
With love,
Kate
